Annoucements

I know I know….boring announcements. I’ll keep this short and sweet and then we can get back to telling stories and having adventures.
Social Media changes
I really love surgery. I’m aware that some of you do not. I also know that some of you share my love of the squishy bits and so after a lot of angsting I’ve decided to open ANOTHER profile on social media.
For all you Dear Readers that want to scroll through my @drmelnewton Instagram and TikTok feeds without worry that you need to bleach your eyeballs, I can promise you that the pics and videos of the graphic clinical cases will not appear.
You are welcome
I cannot promise that I will not continue to post cool eyeball cases, parasites, and other things that might make you go ewwwwwww…..but at least there won’t be blood and internal organs involved?
For those of you that don’t want to miss out, please add @vetmed_unfiltered to your instagram and TikTok accounts.
What about the @drmelnewton facebook page? It will mostly reflect the instagram account of the same name….but may include some extra bits and posts. It will generally be safe for all audiences.
For those of you that didn’t know, I do have another instagram and TikTok account that is @polo_ponie. I save this account for more personal reflections, vet mom type of postings, and posts that wander off topic of this blog. You are welcome to follow me there as well.
Consults now available
I have put a lot of thought into how best to support my friends, family, readers of this blog and beyond. I’ve decided to offer consults for anyone who would like to speak to me about veterinary issues and get advice. I’ve put together this page to review what I can and cannot do through the consults.
I primarily work as a relief veterinarian for non-profit surgery clinics and ER clinics so seeing me in a clinical setting is often not possible. My hope is by offering a consult option, it provides a way for friends and family to seek my advice without being concerned about impinging on my personal time.
I can also give folks who want to ask me about their dogs skin allergies or older pet’s quality of life while we are at a Christmas parties an option other than regular veterinarian or *Airvet.
If you have any questions about this, or want to schedule some time with me, please email me.

*Airvet is a 24/7 veterinarian staffed advice line that’s great! I sometimes do consults through them, but you can’t specifically request me. It’s a great service if you aren’t sure whether you should go to an emergency clinic, or you have a question and your regular vet isn’t available.
