Convention time!
March 3, 2014 | Posted by Melinda under Uncategorized |
In 3 short days I’ll be flying to Atlanta for the AERC 2014 Convention. If you will be there, please come by the Renegade Boot Booth where I’ll be partnering up with Ashley. I’ll be attending seminars, taking notes, and providing summaries….but this is where I need YOUR input.
My attention span is not conducive for me sitting through all the seminars so normally I prioritize subjects I’m most interested in.
Looking at the line up this year I don’t have particularly strong feelings of which sessions I want to attend….so I’m letting YOU chose.
Based on your feedback I’ll attend sessions, dutifully take notes on what the speaker says, and then write up a summary blog post on what I learned, what was presented, and what some of the most important take away messages were.
Here are the sessions. Leave me a comment here or on facebook with the sessions you are most interested in getting summaries for.
Liz and I are going! We’ll see you there!! 😀
I can’t believe I get to meet you guys IRL!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited.
So are we!!! We’d noticed it on your schedule a month ago and had been wondering; I texted Liz the second I saw this post! Awesomeness!!!
And regarding the lectures, I’m guessing we’ll be listening in on all of them, but the ones I’m most interested in are, in this order: Managing Heat Stress in the Endurance Horse, Injuries of the Groin and Chest (this is particularly interesting to me because they are injuries that are also being noticed more in sporting dogs), What Happens if Your Endurance Horse Colics, and Shoeing For Specific Needs (what Funder said below re: hooves whether with iron or not. If it were about trimming instead of shoeing, though, this would be my #2!)
I’m with you on all of the above, lady!
Might be nice to listen in on the “recent research” one for a bit, too, see if we can glean anything out of it!
MEL I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU AND ASHLEY! It’ll be a nice primer to my April visit to Cali. =)
I vote for “What Happens if Your Endurance Horse Colics”, “Managing Heat Stress” and “Chest/Groin Injuries”.
Duely noted!
My personal votes are: Chest/Groin Injuries (because I’ve always heard such good feedback about Dr. Marcella), Heat Stress, and Shoeing for Specific Needs. (I’m a sucker for hooves, even if there’s iron involved.)
So excited for yall and sad to miss this one!
Heat stress, plz. Fee doesn’t thrive in humidity, and I’d love more info!
Groin & chest injuries please 🙂
I vote for Groin/Chest Injuries, and maybe Heat Stress. And maybe Research too! 🙂
I vote for Heat Stress, What’s New, and Injuries to the Groin and Chest:)
Go Pony is Renegade Ashley? I had not put two and two together! She’s been really helpful.
Chest/groin injuries is tops on my list. Have fun!
Yep one and the same. Ashley is really fun irl too and I’m looking forward to picking her brain on some renegade questions I have that are too hard to explain over email
Hey, Mel- Hope you have a great time at the Convention! Personally, I’d love to have you go to the BOD meeting…
While I support *some* of the proposed changes by the Vet
Committee, I’d like to know there is documentation to justify
the changes and not just a “knee-jerk” reaction to have AERC be seen as doing SOMETHING/ANYTHING pro-active to improve horse welfare.
Agree with the heat stress, chest/groin injuries choices- but
also enjoy Dr Mero’s insights, so selfishly would vote for the
Next Endurance Horse seminar as well!
Leave plenty of time to treasure hunt the used tack sale!!
Have to admit that the BOD meeting is probably the one thing I really DON’T want to go to. For exactly the issues you described. I haven’t even been able to read some of the EN articles about the proposed changes without wanting to burn the publication in a rage. But maybe if I have some good gin on board and are feeling nice and relaxed and maybe taking notes will allow me to feel like I’m doing something I could pull it off.:) we shall see.
