This is not Goodbye.

I swear, this is not goodbye.
This is me admitting that my time here on the blog is changing and it’s time to face up to that.
After more than nine continuous years of blogging, today I’m finding myself with not much to say on a daily or weekly basis.
Oh trust me, I’m not done. But, I think it’s time for me to create some space in my life for writing apart from this blog, to work on some other projects that I’m really excited about.
I’m under no delusion that the books I author are ever going to create a substantial revenue stream, or become best sellers. But, much like when I started this blog, that doesn’t matter. I have stories and words that I feel driven to write down and I’m doing it for me. I really hope people read and enjoy the books I plan on writing, just like this blog is made better by readers and comments….but that isn’t what motivates me. I’m doing it because I want to. 🙂
I want to promise you that I’m not done writing here. When I have something to share, I will. When I do something crazy and have a story to tell, I promise to come on here and share it with you. I’m not going to disappear. If they every figure out why I’m going blind, I’ll make sure you guys know too (update, I got retested for NMO…negative and every one is officially stumped). When I get into WS100 I’ll absolutely post the journey with the honesty and humor you’ve come to expect over the last decade. When we say the final goodbye to Farley, and MerryLegs rocks her first ride (or doesn’t…) I promise to take you on those journey’s too.
In the meantime, check out the Dr. Mel facebook page (facebook.com/drmelnewton) where I post little updates and pictures regularly, or email ([email protected]) me a question that you want answered here, or sign up for email updates so you don’t miss any future blog posts.
I’m really excited about the middle grades/young adult novel I’m working on. I never thought I had a novel inside me, but I’m finding out I was wrong. I’m working hard on a first draft and hope to have it finished later this year. I’m sure I will consider the news of it publishing blog-worthy, but if you want to stay connected with this my other writing projects, check out facebook.com/orvettablack
As Elsa says “Let it go”. You have our permission to scale back! I check your blog every morning, and I appreciate that you so often respond to people who take out of their lives to leave comments. Have fun writing your books! Looking forward to perhaps hearing horsey updates
Thank you and of course! I’m such an introvert IRL and have a hard time connecting with people in a meaningful way. Starting this blog and having readers like yourself who come and listen to me has been one of the biggest life changing things ever for me. I promise to keep in touch.
There are seasons, Mel. Recognizing them is evidence of wisdom. Be blessed in all you do!
I’m so excited about the new stuff you are doing. Go, you!
