Minx
I started this sport on a Standardbred named Gal’s Black Minx (“Minx”). She was given to me after I finished my undergraduate degree and together we learned about endurance riding. She was not an easy horse to complete endurance rides on and we failed many many times. Literally – I did not finish a single ride our first season.
We finally started finishing 50’s, but I was exploring options for a different career (driving!) as I felt like endurance really wasn’t her sport since it was difficult to keep her sound. Unfortunately she passed away from colic in April 2009 shortly after I made this decision.
Her ears grace the header of this blog.
- How I got her
- Recap of our endurance career together – I didn’t know it at the time, but there were no more rides for her after I wrote this post.
- Yes, she could pull a cart too
- How she died, a poem about it, the details
- I reminiscence about doing endurance on a non-arab and share ride pictures of Minx
