“A Little R&R”: Ride and Tie Essay 2014 – ONLINE!!!!!!
October 3, 2015 | Posted by Melinda under Uncategorized |
A year ago I wrote an article on Rest and Recovery that won the Ride and Tie Jim Steere Veterinary Student scholarship. It was published in the fall newsletter but I’ve been waiting and waiting….and waiting for that newsletter to go online so I could share it with you digitially.
It’s FINALLY uploaded!
The used the same pictures of me for the 2014 article as they did for the 2013, but don’t worry, the WORDS are different (and that’s what counts right?).
This year’s essay covers rest and recovery – what it is, how it’s measured, and how we can manipulate it to make us stronger.
Here’s the link, my article starts on page 8. Enjoy!
PERFECT TIMING for me to read this article, as Fee and I approach the end of a very strenuous (for us) ride season. She was awesome all day on the 80 miler yesterday–just the right amount of uncooperative to let me know that she wasn’t passively resigned to whatever stupid plan I have, but considers herself a voting member of the team. And yet, after the obligatory “you gotta be kidding” faces, she carried me with happy ears out of camp again and again, all day. Good mare.
We have one more ride on the calendar, at the end of the month. You can be sure that we will both be resting and recuperating in the meantime!
Thanks for the article, it’s good stuff.
Thanks Aarene!!!!!!! :).
Great post to read as I try to ‘rehab’ myself from an injury. By rehab, I mean do what I gotta do plus some of what I want to do, without breaking myself. Thanks for the reminder to listen to what I can do! 😉
