5 year anniversary gift – new URL

You may have noticed that the blog looks a little bit different and you were directed to a new URL (www.bootsandsaddles4mel.com/blog).
I’ve finally gotten around to doing what I’ve meant to do for years – get my blog off of blogger and onto the my main webpage. Increasing problems with blogger (such as the search function randomly malfunctioning and the inability to edit widgets once I add them them to my side bar) finally reached critical mass.
Please update your bookmarks to the new URL. I know that the site isn’t as readable as the old one (font is hard to read and formatting is a bit weird) but I’ll be fixing that soon. A rainy day(s) is sometimes the motivation needed to buckle down and get website todo’s checked off the list!
I’ve transferred all the content from the old URL (including comments) here, so you should be able to find everything here that you might have wanted on the old site.
🙂

This is really something I should do as well…
I’ve entered the new address & updated my blog reading list. It takes a minute to re-direct. Background blue here is so dark that I can’t read it. Otherwise – nice!
Yeah – I don’t know what’s up with the “leave a reply” or comment box being such a very dark color of blue. The text should be white….will add to my list. One thing I don’t like I about wordpress is it’s not quite as intuitive to figure out how to change specific elements of the template. (like color, font etc.).
Wow, it takes a LONG time for the page to come up on my Firefox! Almost a minute to bring the site up, and when I clicked on “comments” another minute again. I checked 3 other blogs for update while I waited for your page to load! Gosh, I hope that improves. But congrats on moving over!
Sorry about the delay on the redirect from the old page – I’m not sure how to speed that up. I haven’t noticed a delay on the speed of the new page once I’ve been redirected and I’m “here” – but I’ll keep an eye on that and have some people test it for me. Thanks for the feedback!
OK – I’ve disabled the redirect because I think that is what is creating most of the “slowness”.
Bummer. It took over a minute to get the reroute page, clicked on “comments” and at least another minute to get the page (checked 3 other blogs while waiting for the page to change). I typed in a comment, saw the wheel turning but I shut it down after about 3 minutes… I’m trying another comment here to see if it behaves better this time…
Done!
