I see a lot of people confused about rider option pulls and when they can be used in AERC rides. I decided to create an info graphic to help visualize how the rider option works.
The bottom line for a rider option is that the horse HAS to be judged as fit to continue FIRST to use an RO code. There is no other path to a rider option code.

Surface factors, which is a pull code not listed on the cartoon, is another Vet specific pull code that is used when the horse is not lame or metabolic but is not fit to continue because of things like a big girth gall or a very sore back but horse is still sound.
