Mel is getting Married
July 8, 2014 | Posted by Melinda under Mel's Life |
I wasn’t sure I was going to post something about this, since it was *nothing* to do with horses or endurance, but I got enough interest in my relationship status change, that I put this little post together for you guys.
We aren’t sure exactly what we are going to do for the “getting married” part of this process. Be we do know it will be small and simple. I’ve never dreamed of a big ceremony with the white poofy dress, and both of us dislike being the center of attention. We have assured people no matter what we decide, at some point we will throw some sort of casual get-together as an excuse for friends and family to enjoy some good food :).
I managed to buy my dress yesterday *all by myself* and I like it more than I thought would be possible for me to like a dress intended for a wedding. You can tell it’s the one when everyone else in the room also trying on bridal dresses comes over to your changing room and whispers “you don’t have to take my advice….but that one you were just in? That’s the one…”.
I managed to keep my dress totally secret for about as long as Funder kept the sex of her new baby a secret – about 45 minutes. And then, I have to admit, I sent a picture to Funder and Aurora, and got their nod of approval.
If something exciting happens and I have a pretty picture, I’ll share with you guys. 🙂
Ahem. Picture of the dress????!!!!
Also: felicitations to you both!
Congrats! Pictures needed of dress! Keep dress away from horses!
I have zero self control. I really would ride in it if I got distracted. Must add that to the list of “things to not let happen”. At least not until after the wedding and pictures.
But then dress *really*wouldnt be secret would it? :). Although I mostly want to surprise matt and my family so once I get a picture of it on me (not just the stock pic on the model) perhaps it will be time for a password protectes post?
You’re right, keep the secret that is more fun…
Regarding the last line of your post-
*This* IS exciting! And you DO have pretty pictures! and- you
DID share with us! Thanks!!! and congratulations to both you
& Matt!
Now- Is the dress belted, and will it accommodate TWO buckles??
Yes, yes this *is* exciting :). The dress has a fitted waist but not a belt or I really would wear a buckle with it!!!!!!! (much to matt’s chagrin….).
Congratulations! Don’t ride in the dress and – ahem – don’t ride in the ring either. Solitaires and horsehair don’t go well together (don’t ask me how I know this…)
This one hasn’t done too badly – the setting is extremely smooth which I appreciate so it doesn’t catch, however the overall height of it still is problematic when I band it into stuff and it twists painfully INTO my finger…..so, instead of having me wear *no* ring when I run and ride or backpack or swim I think Matt has decided to get me a smooth flat wedding band, which I think is a good call!!!!! My class ring is SO beat up because I never take it off.
COngrats! Don’t ride in the dress And – ahem – don’t ride in the ring either. Solitaires and horse mane hair don’t go well together (don’t ask me how I know this).
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Colorado is a “self marriage” state. Sign the document, have a witness sign and you are married.
And the Allenspark Lodge is really cool for a honeymoon…
😉
Bill
LOL. I *love* Colorado…..
*bounces up and down* Very happy for you! Congratulations. Best Wishes. And all of that jazz.
congratulations and much happiness
Thank you 🙂
Thank you everyone!!! For some reason my settings have changed and I didn’t get all these comments in my email and just saw them all when I checked my blog! Wheeeeee!!!! So many comments and congrats – makes for a very happy Melinda 🙂
PS- given the picture of Tess in the gremlin post, don’t let
HER near the dress, either!!
Maybe a guardian type band for the ring?? insure the diamond-
and WEAR it!! (you can temporarily blind the other runners, or
send emergency signals if you get lost.)
Hope Team Hot Mess has a great run this weekend- and a wonderful
time!!
At least Tess is white!!!!!!! And theoretically matches the dress. Unlike some other four hoofed animals I could name…
Congratulations! I also have a flat wedding band and am so happy with it, regular jewelry gets beat up on my hands.
